Elizabeth Guildford - Production Manager
It is difficult to overstate the importance of the Production Manager on a film or television project. Reporting directly to the Producer, the Production Manager is the person responsible for planning and managing the day-to-day logistics of the production. Whereas the director is the master of the creative domain, the Production Manager is the master of the operational side. One of the major responsibilities of the Production Manager is to keep the production moving along according to the timeline to ensure production dates are met. This means the Production Manager must directly oversee issues such as, budget, scheduling, locations, accommodations, and hiring of crew.
The Production Manager is also responsible for preparing the various progress reports for the producing team. These progress reports can come in the form of the daily production report or the weekly cost report.
People who take the Production Management advanced workshop will emerge with the following skill sets:
• Preparing a script breakdown
• Preparing a preliminary shooting schedule
• Preparing a daily production report
• Coordinating transportation and housing arrangements for cast and crew
• Coordinating the various releases for cast, crew and extras
• Preparing a weekly cost report
• Identifying common pitfalls that can halt a production and how to avoid them
