PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

WHAT IS IT?

The Certificate in Film and Television is a professional development programme which provides workshops, mentors, and on-set training to New Brunswickers who wish to pursue a career in the film and television industry

The programme offers introductory, intermediate and advanced level courses in the creative, technical, and business aspects of filmmaking. It is part of a significant training programme

The programme is designed to assist in skills enhancement as well as the development of human resources in the crew base of film and television production in the province.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

- Those already working in the industry who can benefit from advanced professional development

- Those with transferable skills not currently working in the film industry.

- Those who are new to the film industry seeking the knowledge and experiences which will enable them to enter the industry crew base.

WHEN IS IT BEING OFFERED?

The Workshop sessions will run throughout 2007. On-set training will occur in Fall 2007/Winter 2008

 

Nurturing film and television in NB

As a trainee on a real film set, you will be assigned a mentor with significant experience and expertise in the department to which you have been assigned. The mentor will develop a detailed skills training plan for your position which will cover the relevant job duties you will be expected to perform.

Over the course of your time on set, the mentor will evaluate your performance in each of the various job components. This evaluation will be shared with you as part of our development process.

The on-set mentors will be composed of top level industry professionals from the local independent and commercial film sectors as well as recognized experts from across the country.
