Jennifer Chiasson says attending fashion week in New York City recently was the opportunity of a lifetime.

The Fredericton video editor was intrigued when she noticed an online job advertisement last September.
The website fashionnewslive.com was seeking a post production supervisor to work in New York during the city's prestigious fashion week.
"I was looking for ways to build my resume when I saw the ad," Chiasson said. "Rocco Gaglioti, the executive producer and host of the website, was unsure at first, because he wanted someone who was local in New York to work the event."
After examining Chiasson's profile and speaking with her over the phone, Gaglioti decided to hire her. Chiasson said she was thrilled when she learned she had gotten the job in December.
"It was perfect because my career is in video editing and I have a personal interest in fashion," she said. "To combine the two was great."
Fashion week took place Feb. 11-18, but Chiasson arrived a day earlier and stayed until Feb. 21.
Some of her duties included editing footage, managing videography crews and overseeing post production for the website, which features interviews with fashion icons, designers and celebrities.
While she spent a lot of her time working, Chiasson also had the opportunity to attend runway shows and visit venues. She said she feels fortunate to have had the experience.
"It was exhilarating," she said. "You can't buy your way into fashion week; you have to be invited or be working. I never would have had this opportunity otherwise.
"To see it first hand is like seeing your favourite painting in person for the first time. It was absolutely amazing."
Chiasson said the highlight of the week was seeing designer Carmen Marc Valvo's runway show.
"It was my favourite collection. He did a 1940s vintage inspired line that I loved."
Chiasson said the experience will be a valuable addition to her portfolio, one that she hopes will pave the way for future opportunities.
She has already been discussing the possibility of returning to New York to work for the website for showings in September.
"Fashionnewslive.com is a high-calibre name," she said. "If you're searching for fashion news, it comes up in the top 10 searches on Google. I think working for them will open doors for me to be more involved in fashion.
"It's a huge website that's doing really well, and that reflects well on me."
