IN MEMORY
ERROL WILLIAMS SPECIAL SCREENING EVENT & RECEPTION
56 year old NB Film Co-op Alumnus Errol Williams passed away suddenly on Saturday evening in a hospital in Bermuda in July, 2007.
Errol was a huge supporter and contributor to the NB Film Co-op. As a long time member filmmaker he remained involved in the organization throughout the years whether he was living in Fredericton, Halifax or Bermuda.
(by Chris Campbell, past Film Co-op President)
Just over a year ago we lost our friend Errol.
Anyone who knew Errol remembers his smile, his laugh, his keen intellect and endless curiosity. He loved to tell stories and to listen to them. In his travels he made many friends and through filmmaking he was able to share more stories and give many people chances to grow as filmmakers. Errol had a powerful and lasting impact on the NB Filmmakers' Co-op as a mentor and a friend. From his short film "Driftwood" to the documentary "Echoes in the Rink: The Willie O'Ree Story" he developed as a filmmaker and the Co-op grew with him. During the production of "Echoes in the Rink" the Co-op expanded in membership, production and professionalism.
Many people were drawn to filmmaking and helped by Errol through his patience and generosity. While he worked in Bermuda and Nova Scotia, he maintained his friendships and connections with the Co-op over the years and regularly attended the Silver Wave Film Festival.
Errol's final visit to the Film Co-op was during Silver Wave in November of 2006 where he was able to see many friends and share stories and laughter.
On Saturday, August 23 at 7pm at Marshall D'Avray Hall, UNB Room 143 (Dugald Blue Auditorium) , Fredericton, NB, The NB Film Co-op and Errol's mom and family will show some of Errol's films and share some memories, stories and laughter in a casual environment with a reception afterwards.
He still inspires us and brings us together.

MEMBER UPDATES, MEMBER UPDATES, MEMBER UPDATES
LOUISE MILNER - FREDERICTON
I'd like to tell you about a recent addition to Film Co-op member Louise Milner's music producing CD and keyboard capabilities - the CP300. Louise feels it's important to utilize different systems out there as the digital keyboards of today do have the capacity to create a wide range of sounds.
You can find out whether a particular sound for your film, ranging from a simple combination of 'voices' to an orchestral sound - strings and all would suit your film. Louise needs to see only your script, even before viewing your first video draft. After completion of your musical score, an audio CD is then ready for transfer to the film or video project.
A "film sampler" of Louise's various music pieces is available here at the Film Co-op. Louise can be contacted at 455-1704 for further questions.

AS SCENE FROM HERE

Major reshuffling of the Rogers Cable programming this fall means that the Trevor Doyle Live show will not be returning.
Trevor has been an ardent supporter of the NB Film Co-op and its members over the years. His fantastic coverage of Silver Wave Film Festival activities annually has been greatly appreciated and no doubt has bolstered the SWFF profile.
Trevor of course remains in the public eye as Fredericton's Morning Man with the Capital Good Morning Show on Capital FM (106.9) weekdays starting at 6 a.m. Special thanks also to Kirk Pennell, producer of Trevor Doyle Live for his scheduling of SWFF guests annually! Rogers will still be very involved with SWFF coverage this year but Trevor will be missed.
On a happier Note: Trevor is getting married, sorry ladies. His big day is this Sat, Aug 23. All the best to him and his beautiful bride.
NB Joy award recipient Chris Giles is diligently working away in pre-production on his experimental film which is scheduled to shoot Sept 6, 7 and 8. Chris is director, writer and producer and has his team in place as things move along for "Birth of a Nicola" which promises to be a very unique and interesting project. The cast includes Dennis Poirier, Bronwen Mosher, and Michael Venart. The Crew consists of Film Co-op members, Ian Miller, Joe Blades, Mike Cowie, Rebecca Flewelling, Michelle Thompson, Bruce LeGrow and Jim Lavoie. Chromosomes, proteins, eyes, spuds and clones....Science Run Amok!
It's almost time again,
yes, Cabaret is almost upon us once again! Be sure to go to
www.herenb.com
to see the article on this fun event to raise money for Transition house. NB Film Co-op members are involved in various capacities for the two shows happening on Aug 29 & 30.
Tickets are on sale now: $10 advance, $12 at the door. You can pick them up at boom! nightclu b or through Cabaret members (see article in Herenb).
Please note that I inadvertently omitted some important information. Last year's Cabaret creator was Whitney Illsley and Jessica Holt was the producer. Also, Kiwi is not a stage/theatre name for Kayleigh Smith.
Urgently needed is a qualified camera operator to videotape the show. The camera person will shoot and then the footage will be handed off to someone else for editing. I wish I was qualified to do the shooting because I would get to see a great show, be surrounded by cabaret girls, and help a great cause. That's right; videos are sold to raise additional funds for Transition House. One of you talented filmmakers, step up and volunteer, the Cabaret needs your help!
This camera help is for shooting Tuesday nights (dress rehearsals) Aug 25th and the live performance on Fri Aug 29th. This would enable a quality video by having enough angles and shots for editing purposes. They desperately need people with equipment or access to equipment.
"Last year two cameras were used and that's what we could use on both the 25th of Aug and the opening night, Aug 29th to get full and medium shots", said Cabaret member Jennifer Chiasson. "We also need the camera to be able to shoot in the same format. ie: both be Mini Dv or both be HD." The format does not quite matter we just need both camera to shoot the same quality. "Please help us! this is a memorable show and a good cause. We'd love to be able to remember our good deeds forever!"
DVDs of last year's show can be purchased through Jennifer Chiasson by emailing her at Shannaranelf@hotmail.com or Shannaranelf@gmail.com - 10$ a dvd which includes case, dvd insert sheet and dvd with fully functioning menus!
Film Co-op member and War Brides Historian, Melynda Jarrett has been constantly in the public eye since she announced her soon to be released book on War Brides having a link to rocker Eric Clapton's half -brother here in the east.
A very unusual request comes in this week from an unemployed actress who is looking for paid work. She had a principal woof role in "They Didn't Make It", and is eager to get back into the biz. Please speak to Shady Smiths agent to talk bones: jimlavoie@rogers.com
