Spotlight!
NBFC ARTIST IN RESIDENCE -
Elise was born in Montréal in 1976, where she currently lives with Rabbit, her pet bunny. She graduated from Concordia University in 2004 and has since made animated filmmaking her endeavor.
The Occupant, which played at Silver Wave 2007, is her first independent film, but many more are on the way.
Afloat at Dawn, the passage of the drifters is one of them, and it is through the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec's New-Brunswick artist-in-residence Program, Main Film, the NFB's FAP and the New Brunswick Filmmakers' Co-operative that Elise will be able to complete her film here in Fredericton.
Afloat at Dawn is a film of experimental nature that aims to record the interaction of traveling inkblots on wet paper as a way of rendering landscapes. The experiment will seek to organize and compose these random occurrences into unique scenery. With a few graphics to serve as general guidelines, Elise will compose the narrative based on the discoveries during development.
This will be Elise's first time in Fredericton when she arrives next week and she can't wait to foster new friendships at the New Brunswick Filmmaker Co-op!

INTEREST HIGH IN TDMI
Joel Thompson, Producer, Director, Writer of last year's (Sold Out) Silver Wave Opening Night Gala Screening of They Didn't Make It recently confirmed that a rumor that has been circulating is indeed true. TDMI is being carefully looked at by a distribution company in California. They have a copy on hand and talks will proceed to see if they are interested and wish to pursue/discuss options with Joel. "Hey this is all preliminary but I will keep you posted if something comes out of this" said a proud Thompson.
TDMI was produced by Joel and crewed by Film Co-op members. Made with a zero dollar budget, it garnered extensive media coverage leading right up to its golden premiere to a sold out crowd at Silver Wave 07.
MUSICAL BEANS IN FREDERICTON
I Had the chance last Friday to head down to Doodles Cafe located at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre in Fredericton, to take in one of the array of shows being hosted by Cafe owner Erin Hunter (459-2888) as part of her Musical Beans Series ( http://www.doodlescafe.com ). On tap was the refreshing and invigorating Evan Leblanc accompanied by Fenton Corey. The atmosphere was relaxed as close to 60 people watched the two 17 year olds from Nakawic strut their stuff.
Evan Leblanc
(photo of Even LeBlanc by Jim Lavoie)
unveiled several of his original songs; a highlight was his song called
Different. Evan has a powerful and unique voice which when combined with his songwriting skill, really showcases his incredible rising star. It wouldn't be the
first time someone from his family made a mark. One of the supportive audience members was his proud sister Casey Leblanc. Casey finished 5th in Canadian Idol in 2005. She and Evan are part of this Year's River Jam taking place Friday July 11th at the Delta where 17 bands will perform. Catch Casey and Evan on stage together at DJ Purdys at 10 p.m.

SAINT JOHN - CASTING CALL
I work with a casting company here in Montreal and we will be coming to New Brunswick this week (July 2, 3, and 4) to have casting sessions for two feature films.
The first project is called 'Dog Pound' and it is a feature film dealing with sensitive subject matter... It is a difficult story about troubled youth, told in hopes of inspiring some changes in society. We are looking for young male talent, not necessarily experienced but people who are enthusiastic and passionate about film.
The second project is a dark French Tarantino-style film. It is called 'Léo Huff' and we are looking to cast 'character' faces who stand out in the crowd. For this one, we are seeking French actors.
We will also be looking for all ages, genders and ethnicities to play extras on both projects, so no interested party need be discouraged to apply.
People can arrange auditions with us via e-mail by sending a photo and their contact information (along with any acting experience they have, if applicable).
Thank you,
