MEMBER OF THE MONTH: Dennis Poirier
Active
Filmmaker/Board Director Dennis Poirier used to be based in Moncton
but recently moved to Fredericton to be closer to his new second
home...the NB Film Co-op
Dennis is a self professed movie trivia buff. He has a Multimedia
diploma in Moncton and a Marketing Diploma from the CCNB in Dieppe.
He is a co-founder and co-creator of http://www.redleafproductions.com
A self taught artist, Dennis enjoys painting, sculpting, writing,
wood and ceramic crafting, along with filmmaking. A native of
Kensington PEI, He has lived in south eastern New Brunswick most of
his life (Shediac and Moncton) until recently moving to Fredericton.
He is a member of the board of directors of the NB Filmmaker's Coop
and the column writer of 'In the Bin' for the provincial publication
HERE.
On short film sets, Dennis has experienced almost every crew
position and will gladly volunteer to lend his time, effort and knowledge to fill
a production void. He is comfortable in front of the camera as well.
Dennis plays dark, mysterious characters very well despite being a
little introverted. However it does not mean he isn't a man of
action. His style of learning and creating consists of less idle
talk and more doing, with a constant emphasis towards honing his
art. Dennis has shot two short projects which are now in
post-production, Hell Dog and Dead Flies; for which the latter
received a Short Film Venture Grant.
Dennis is a huge help to Tony and Cat at the Film Co-op and helps
out on Silver Wave and other Co-op events on a regular basis....
