Workshop Description: This workshop explores the thought process behind composing music for an excerpt of film as well as the creative decisions involved in producing the audio. We will use an excerpt of original music composed to accompany Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome by Kenneth Anger as an example, delving into the composition process in detail.

Biography: Woes Fairbairn (they/them) is a Montreal-based composer and multi instrumentalist (Violin, Synthesizers, Guitar, Electronics.) Aside from being the primary composer and creative vision behind the ‘Avant-Goth’ band Tall Shadows, they have contributed music for a number of short films and dance works. Drawing on their training as a classical violinist, and experience working in projects from widely divergent contemporary genres, they have a unique sound that blends traditional composition techniques with electronic sound design and atonal sonic exploration.
